It's thoughtful of you to bring Louis to our attention. You're a good person, JR.

I'm sure he appreciated your call, especially since you have been through some of the same situation. I wish Louis the very best.

I hope you are doing well yourself, JR.

Thanks Rosalie, I think I'm doing very good since
Mar 3, 2004 8:44AM PST

memovel of half my left lung a year ago. Finally got off the pain killers around last November and just have very slight discomfort, also having to sleep mostly on a certain side. A CAT scan last month revealed a small unknown spot on the upper portion of that lung. They want to watch it and will go in for more test early next month at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston.

I do feel generally good, walking 30 minutes a day without getting out of breath, and do just about everything I used to do except lift heavy object and drive long distances without help.

I worry about Louis tho.

I have not forgotten Louis. I pray for him daily.
I assumed he was not feeling well enough to post, And I thought when he did feel well enough he would update all of us. Just as I prayed daily for you John when you were in poor health.

And I really appreciate you, Cindi, Lee, Rosalie, and an awful lot of people in SE who did pray for me in my trying times. I remember in December 2002 we were discussing and testing out the 'new' forum system of GameSpot at their forum and I indicated that I started running fever. It rose to 103F, and after staying at that for several days, discovered pneumonia and cancer. You and others were very supportive.

We may have differences, but you do have a good heart, and I do appreciate your caring for people in need.

Hi John....It seems like so many of the regular posters that I was familiar with
Mar 2, 2004 10:08PM PST

when I joined the SE forum, just aren't posting anymore, but no where near the amount that probably some you old timers (not referring to age, lol) are missing. Part of my problem is that I usually have zero memory, unlike you for sure, and not asking about them when I have asked in the past, is just a shortcoming I on my part.
Some of them may be sweethearts like Louis and then some that have gotten in deep yogurt with their posts. None-the-less, missed.

Re: My lack of reply to your message
Mar 2, 2004 11:04PM PST

JR, I did see your message about Louis. I was not aware that he was undergoing this - there were several months there that I did not visit this forum at all.

The reason I didn't reply was that some people prefer that their personal problems not be discussed on an open forum - and I have no way to contact Louis to see what his preference was. Yes, I consider him a friend, but our only contact has been on this forum. We have never met or spoken on a telephone. So I am assuming that he does not mind your discussion of his problems here.

If I in any way hurt Louis' feelings by not replying, I am very sorry. I am sure that he knows I think the world of him, and would not do that for anything. And moderators, feel free to pass my email address to Louis if he wants it.

Update on Louis M.
Mar 3, 2004 2:54AM PST

I spoke with him this morning.

He rcently finished the course of chemo, and he will be regaining his energy within a few weeks.

He stops in every once in a while and reads some posts. The ball season for his grandchildren is underway, always an enjoyable, and busy time.

He appreciated that folks have inquired about him, and that he has and will remain in our thoughts.

I have a long time friend with colon cancer that it has come back on and he's just on morphine waiting for either a miracle or the end. I hate that word "cancer". It's already killed another friend I had since age 12, about 5 years ago.

You might find this interesting

You may have already heard the story, bit, in case you haven't, this is a link worth reading.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/conditions/02/26/cancer.drug.ap/index.html

With the advances in medical research, cancer does not always mean premature death. My sister had radiation in her 30's, chemo in her late 70's, and about a year ago had a kidney removed. She is 84 years old, and doing well.

A neighbor had chemo 5 years ago, and doing well.

My brother-in-law was diagnosed with a leukemia about 20 years ago. He was given some experimental drugs which helped, but it returned. Then another one- and he has been in remission ever since- a good 15 years.

I certainly will add your friend to my prayers.
