how: set up wireless adapter Dell Vostro 1500

reformatted HD and re-installed XP from original disks. I cannot get the wireless adapter working. Do you have tips or can you direct me to a tutorial? (I don't care right now about the end-of-life from MS support)

Did you install the drivers for the card or various other bits of hardware on the computer?

get a usb wireless adapter.
Only thing I could get to work.

XP on its own and even with the right drivers may fail.

Why? Due to changes over the years companies now put some functions in what I call helper apps. For the Dell they call it QuickSet and in QuickSet can be the WiFi on/off control. I've seen folk lose a month searching for drivers.
