how much memory can a Dell Insipron 6000 handle?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that is 4 to 5 years old. Right now, I only have 512 MB of RAM. I am looking to replace the 512 MB with either 1GB or 2GB. My question is, does anyone know which would be better for my laptop? If I went for the 2GB, could my laptop handle it? Thanks!

Crucial.com has a scanner that will automatically determine how much RAM your laptop can utilize. Or you can manually enter the make and model. This is the result I got for your model:

So the max is 2 x 1GB
