I've picked up a few of these and they made nice internet terminals. These came with a warranty and are refurbed by their maker.

Hi. I own a Compaq Presario 5102US and it's 3 1/2 years old. Everything is the original parts except for the CD-RW drive that I had to replace. It has an AMD Athlon(tm) Processor, 1.00GHz and It came with 128 MB of RAM, but I added a 256MB so it's now up to 384MB of RAM (using 376MB). It came with the monitor and speakers, model FS740 17" flat screen (not LCD) and with the IJ650 Compaq printer.
I was wondering if someone could tell me how much this computer is worth (I'm not including the keyboard and/or the mouse because I had to replace them due to spillage). I will like to see how much it's worth to see if I could sell it and get a new laptop... or should I keep it?
I will appreciate all of your help. If you need additional information, please let me know. Thank you!

My computer is worth just $150? I paid almost $1500 for it!
I can try and auction it on E-bay and see what I get.
Thanks.
You can certainly try eBay, but expect some poor results, IMHO. Also, s/h maybe a deal breaker, as 30-40lbs is alot of cost, unless someone needs it. I'm sure if you've checked local and online pricing of new systems, what they have and any s/w bundles, you'll see what you're up against as $400-500 can pack a hecka of a system nowadays compared to what you have to offer. Sorry, that's the way it is...
good luck -----Willy
i'd say $200
$250 is the MAX
flat 17" CRT's are around $110 new (for a decent one)
and the system is easily worth $100
also
an Athlon 1GHZ would beat a 1GHZ Pentium III
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20001120/p4-19.html#sysmark_2000_under_windows_98
that and other benchmarks in that review
that one just shows the Pentium III, Pentium 4 and Athlon
This pc is in perfect condition. It's been awesome to me and it's in great condition inside and outside. So I could get some cash if I try to sell it on e-bay? I forgot to mention it has a 40GB hard drive too.
Thanks for the help.

ok
PC's lose value faster than a car
my 4 yr old Hewlett-Packard 7975 cost me $4200 when new (yeah, it was expesnive, and VERY nice when new)
currently i couldn't hope for more than $150 for it, if it hadn't been gutted (i'm building a 2nd rig out of some of it's parts, using others for my main rig...)
your system just isn't worth hardly anything
a 40GB HDD can be had BRAND NEW for $45
an AthlonXP 2700+ for $83
a top shelf Abit AN7 for ~$90
PC2700 DDR 1GB dual channel for under $100
Radeon 9800Pro for $159
i mean your system just doesn't have it
i'd say keep it, it'll take forever to find a buyer who won't just say "sheesh, AMD, they suck, their not Intel, i'm getting a Dell, it'll be faster"
just because most people don't know AMD, so they'll avoid it, thinking it's some crappy relic of the 90's
i'd keep it
as a 2nd PC
and just start saving for a laptop
You aren't going to get much for it no matter what and you can always support the department of education, their budget suks like s**t.

if you don't want it
that'd probably be the best idea, just format the HDD blank to remove all your stuff from it
and give it to a local school (or church/other non-profit organization)
