How long does it take for your computer to boot up?

Jun 15, 2007 4:14AM PDT

Get out your stopwatches. How long does it take for your computer to boot up?

* Less than a minute (What's your secret sauce?)
* 1 to 2 minutes (Not bad. Any tips?)
* 3 to 4 minutes
* 5 to 6 minutes
* I can mow my lawn and return, and it will still be loading.
* Other (Please specify.)

When I boot my Asus Netbook into Splashtop OS. The same machine boots Xubuntu in an average of a minute and Windows 7 in about a minute and a half.

It's a slow computer with poor specs, so I'm just happy it doesn't take a lot longer haha

I only have 5 programs starting at start up. Firewall, AV, Synaptics ( for touch pad) Speedfan ( for temp measurements only) and Process Explorer. I also turned off 10 services that I do not use. To make the laptop lean I uninstalled all the HP programs except for 3. It was taking just under 2 and half minutes before I started to gut everything HP on it. Three of the services I did not use where from HP and they caused most of the delay during booting.
