Why are you asking?
If you had also told why such an analysis was being done, maybe someone could give a good answer.
As to CIS, CCD I do know that in our CCTV cameras CCD is still preferred in lower light situations. But that is all I can share.
Bob
Here on the cnet editor's reviews both the color scan and grayscale scan quality is rated as excellent for the MP530 and only good for the MP830.
The more expensive unit, MP830 is a CCD type scanner while the MP530 is a CIS. Popular opinion has it that CCD produces better scans than CIS, unless CIS technology has finally caught up with CCD???
Other notes:
MP530
Scanner Resolution Optical Up to 1200 x 2400 dpi
Colour Scanning Depth 48/24 bit (RGB each 16/8 bit)
Halftone/Greyscale 16 / 8 bit
MP830
Max. Resolutions Optical: 2400 x 4800 dpi <-- according to Canon's website, 1200 x 2400 dpi on cnet
48-bit internal / 24-bit external
The rated optical resolution for the MP830 is as good or better (depending on which sources your reference is) than the MP530. So despite the technology behind the MP830 scanner the MP530 still gets better scanning reviews. Can the cnet reviewers re-compare the scan output between the two devices again, scan quality is the biggest deciding factor for my purchase in an ADF multifunction and I want to be sure I'm getting the right product. Can anyone else provide input on the scanning comparisons.
Thank-you
