How dto make HP printer recognize non-genuine ink?

Jan 9, 2011 10:13AM PST

I recently installed a black ink cart refill in my HP Photosmart 8150 and it says that the "genuine cartridge is empty" and wont recognize the new one. Any suggestions on how to force the printer to use the non-genuine cart?

I'd ask the place you purchased it from

If they guarantee compatibility, they need to support that claim.

I Have always bought HP printers and have my carts filled by a very well known firm and the guy told me to have three or four carts and number them, use them in order and when it came round to use number one again, the printer had forgotten about number one and acccepted it.
I did this for years with no problem. It's just a case of tricking the memory chip into thinking it's number five.
