How does Windows Live Mail Suck? Let me count the ways.

Sep 19, 2013 3:35PM PDT

Never saw a company try so hard to put themselves out of business. I have been a Microsoft booster, shareholder an customer since 1983.
WLM has cost me lost business, lost golf dates and lost important mail.
It's hard to believe that this company can be so incompetent....negligent is a better word. Tortious too.
I thought my Windows 8 was bad, get a load of WML.
Sorry to ***** and cry my beer but I had to get it off my chest.
A computer is part of the fabric of our lives and negligence like this should not be sucked-up.
How,s this Evolution client I'm hearing about.
Thanks.

But they know what's good for you.

That's the explanation I've been given recently.

Another Opinion!

No one forced you to buy Windows 8 or is forcing you to use WLM. You don't like them Uninstall and install what you like, maybe Linux or better yet buy a Mac. If all you chronic complainers stopped your B****ing and spend the time learning windows 8 you would all be experts.

The above opinion is mine and mine alone and doesn't necessarily reflect that of Microsoft, it's employees, or any other member of this forum.

I learned my lesson...

A very long time ago, I used Outlook Express as my mail client and look what happened to that and all the other email clients M$ have offered since. At one time, I tried Hotmail - Oh, Oh, M$ bought that and "improved" it to something else called Outlook.something or other. Yahoo mail? Have you been tracking the protests at the change of format "to improve our experience"? Same with Gmail.

My advice to you is to find an ISP that will offer you a basic IMAP or POP3 (I prefer POP3) mail service, download Mozilla Thunderbird and pull your mail to your PC. Then you are in control of your mail system. Maybe you won't have all the fancy collaboration tools that some of the so called "enhanced" mail systems offer but you will have the basic mechanism to get a message reliably from A to B and/or C and D, etc.

Look at it like mobile phones. I saw a review once for a smartphone that got rave reviews on most counts. The only downside was the call quality wasn't great. IT'S A PHONE DAMMIT (please excuse the vernacular)! Same with mail systems.

What Exactly Are You Talking About?

For personal use, I've only used Hotmail/Outlook.com since I last cut the ties with AOL(!) Never had any problem with mail delivery, as long as I have a little patience and don't expect an email to show up in a few seconds from when it was sent. I don't think that's asking too much. As for WLM, I find it fantastically convenient. I get my Hotmail/Outlook.com messages through it and, if I'm feeling masochistic, I can get Gmail through that. Never liked Gmail, though - too complicated.
I would not very likely trust any business messages in WLM, but I have REAL Outlook for that through my workplace. I'm actually not using Win 8 yet, although I have it on a disc I downloaded during the $40. upgrade window last year. Maybe the Win 8 version of WLM is different than my Win 7 experience?
