How does one CLEAR all the titles from the SEARCH WINDOW ?

by 007NANA / May 16, 2006 1:07 PM PDT

Hello Happy
I am so excited in using my computer but noticed that everytime I enter a title of what I want to look up, the drop down has many titles that I have entered. In the seach window it is getting pretty long.

Does anyone know how to clear this up? Please make it easy if possible. I do well when instructions are in step by step format.

I have Windows XP

Assuming you're referring to the text entry fields on websites in Internet Explorer, go Tools->Internet Options->Content, click on AutoComplete, then click Clear Forms. You can also uncheck all of the boxes to prevent it from remembering future data.

If you're speaking of the Search feature in Windows (Start->Search), it's a horse of a different color...go Start->Search, click Change Preferences, and click Turn Off Autocomplete.

Hope this helps,

I use Privacy Mantra(free), Ccleaner(also free) neither take up system resources. I typically keep my autocomplete on in case I want to re-search, etc...then when I feel i'm done, I use one of the two mentioned which by the way give you options as what to erase or not.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
