I want to know..how can these voice recognition software like IVR can help small businesses and marketing companies.

By answering the call, asking questions and reacting on what they say, either for the whole transaction or to prepare for continuation by an agent.

For example, you have a lottery and ask the caller to say the 12 digits of his lot number. Only when he won a price, connect him to an agent.

So far, poorly. To the point folk are erecting more barriers

Sadly companies are robocalling more and more to the point that folk are implementing call blocking.

As the saying goes, "Don't be that guy." That is, I continue to encounter folk that think it's OK to robocall. Nope, it's not.
