Hello, can you tell me how you clear the hard drive to re-install a fresh copy of XP, will this wipe the drivers too?

* Take out your XP CD, and stick it in the drive
* Reboot
* Follow instructions
* Make note of the point where it asks you if you want to format the partition, and select one of the options that starts with "Format this partition using"

And this will wipe out EVERYTHING. Drivers, documents, programs, EVERYTHING.

The only setting in the Bios.....
by Michael Geist / September 3, 2005 10:13 PM PDT

that needs to be touched, is that setting which controls the boot order. Set to boot to the optical drive first and the hard drive second, I would pop in my XP cd and follow these directions for a clean install.

Note that your data if not backed up off the machine is now in peril, and yes drivers and application software need to be reinstalled.

Re installing XP.....

What do you mean "....reinstalling XP - from BIOS ?
What drivers do you mean ?
If you "wipe" you erase everything.

If you need to reinstall XP, just bootup from the XP CD, choose your options, and follow the on screen instructions. BUT - why do you need to reinstall XP ? What problems do you have ?

Be prepared, as after reinstallation, you will need to reinstall the mother board drivers, and then all devices and programs. So have the installation discs ready. Remember to backup all your files you cannot aford to

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
