There are a number of reports that the blue light specifically, emitted from flat screen displays is damaging to the eyesight. I'm guessing that this relates to the UV end of the spectrum but I'm not an optometrist. And that really is the clue, if you are spending a significant amount of time staring at a computer screen (or presumably a flat screen TV, though you do tend to sit a bit further away from them), seriously consider speaking to your optometrist before any damage is done. I believe there are tints available to spectacles that can block the harmful frequencies but again, your qualified specialist will be aware of them.
Echoing Bob's comment, you only get one set of eyes, don't take risks with them!
