Open one Window and reduce the size, open the other ...and a third.... or forth.... Right click at an empty area at the task bar... choose tile windows horizontally, or vertically....

Another option

Open two windows. Goto the Notification Area, (where the clock and other icons are), right click any empty space, and select "Tile". The name may be different on an XP system but you will get the picture I think when you try.

That should tile windows as you wish.

I use the taskbar. Open the 2 windows, then RIGHT click on the taskbar and choose "Show windows side by side" with a LEFT click.
