Someone took a bunch of pictures of us and sent them to me via Google Drive. I downloaded them but I can't open must of them because most of them have the .heic file extension. I don't have an iphone or any apple devices. I use this desktop primarily. Thanks for the help.

...other extensions to see if that will work. Try jpg, tiff, bmp, png, gif, among others. I'm betting they use a different extension, but it's actually a common file format.
contain malware/bloatware? I opened images on my nice computer, and I am very selective about the software that I install on here.
