Hi, I want to know if it is possible to open up my laptop and install an SSD without needing a professional. If so, can you show me how?

open the back panel of the laptop and disconnect the SATA connection and replace the HD with the SSD. The issue is how your going to get the OS onto the new drive. I myself use cloning software but some people prefer clean installs. Cloning requires an external Drive case with a USB connection and cloning software. I use Acronis True Image which is sold at Best Buy. A clean install will require a Windows retail system disk to system restore disk you should have created. You can create one now and you should either way to be safe.
