Question

How do you fix the local disk storage on a desktop computer?

Jul 22, 2015 9:04PM PDT

The storage on my disk is for some reason packed and therefore the space is insufficient, even though when I save files for projects I make I save on a different hard drive the extra storage hard drive to be exact. I had a relative help me with the problem and moved some things to My Passport which for a week or two worked fine, I didn't have problems with watching videos on sites like YouTube or DailyMotion, and I could save the files of my flash animation programs and have it open to to it allowing me access to the toolbar and timeline, as well as playing computer games such as Minecraft or Gmod. But today after a little mistake I found with my computer I turned it off and then on again and that's when the problem happened again and I had said relative help but they didn't want to mess up my computer by deleting or moving a very vital file on my computer that needed to be there in order to function. I tried google and YouTube but they didn't help. I'm new to computers so go easy on me. Looking for any help you can provide, you all sound like very smart people here.

Answer
For some reason it is packed.

Since it is packed, it must be packed with something.. so you should find out what they are first. Could it be duplicate..or what? Maybe the harddrive is too small to begin with. Your relative hasn't completed the job yet.

Agree....why not purge or dispose of what's no longer

needed or wanted ? Here's a great time to use 'TreeSize' to figure what stuff is on the disk and where it's located on the disk in case you want to remove it. Then you can figure out the best thing to do.
