How do you deal with Task Manager's Task Procedure Tab?

by latenight9 / August 7, 2008 11:23 PM PDT

On the Task Manager's second tab, which is Task Procedure tab(i use XP Chinese version so the translation might be varied), on WinXP, there are a series of tasks(*.exe). I'm wandering i could know what they mean and how to deal with it respectively.

Like i use Security Task Manager(v1.7)and it tells me which one is highly insecure and so i could quarantine it...Is that right to do so?...

you re-post this inquiry in either XP forum or the Office & productivity forum. Click on left "see all forums". Hopefully they can help define which tasks have you concerned.

You could also (?) copy & paste list to a notepad text for Googling each process individually for descriptions.
Good Luck! Happy

"Processes". Lists all active processes running on the computer. Normally there will be 30 - 50, including 3-7 svchost.exe.
This site http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm is useful for finding out what each task is for.
I don't know about "Security Task List".
Anything it finds that is dangerous should probably be looked at more to find if it really is dangerous, or something you have installed.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
