There's a lot of malware now. In the 6 figures so unless you are very lucky, no one may know which it was. If you obfuscated these the chances are now much less.
I like Grif's list for scanning. It's at http://forums.cnet.com/7726-6122_102-5509131.html?tag=posts;msg5509131
Bob
I recently had three icons appear on my Chrome bookmarks toolbar. (Running Win7 with latest updates.)
These icons (which I deleted without ever clicking on them) referenced URL-shortened links. Here are the URLs in the icons (obfuscated so you will need to take positive action to access them - not recommended unless you are using an isolated test configuration of some sort):
goo_._gl/1bBWsx
bi_._ly/Yb9ZGa
goo_._gl/dJnIg4
Since I did not put these icons on my toolbar, my question is how could a website's code install them?
Second question: is this symptomatic of a known piece of malware? I googled it the best I could, but found no references that fit.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
Thomas
