Question

How do I wipe and re-do hard drive?

Aug 31, 2011 4:23PM PDT
I have a media center edition HP, version 2002, Windows XP. I am going to give the computer away but don't want my financial info coming off hard drive. If I wiped it off with AShampoo Windows Optimizer (I hope this will wipe the drive). Anyway, I have Recovery cd's so I can fix the operating system. Is this the way it is done?

Using the recovery CD's generally is enough. But be sure that it doesn't save all your old data in something like a 'old-xxx' folder. Nothing beats Windows Explorer or My Computer to check that.

The program you used doesn't wipe your disk, nor delete your data. It just optimizes (or so it says) the way you use that data. So that certainly is enough.
