The new disk might come with a program to 'clone' the old one to the new one. If not, you might be able to download it from the makers site. If not, a program like CLONEZILLA (free) will do it.
If it's a desktop, you can consider to leave Windows on that 80 GB drive and add the 500 GB as a second drive. That's even easier.
