How do I turn off Windows XP network detection

I have a software solution that is licenced via MAC address. It means I have to have my PC plugged into a network before it will work. I know there is a way of turning off the netwrok detection in XP I just can not remember how

One solution I used is

To disable the network adapter in device manager.

Disable Network detection

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunatley I can not disable the network adapter because the lic software requires mac address
