How do I transfer videos from Sony Handycam to MacBook Pro?

My understanding is that the camera and mac laptop are not compatible but thought someone might have another idea or "work around" to make the transfer a possibility.

I can't guess which one but here's a workaround.

After that it's off to HANDBRAKE the DVD back to something we can edit.

While iMovie doe not support any of the DCR range,

it is quite possible that attaching the camera to your Mac, settling it to play and firing up iMovie 11, would produce a result.
