There are NO 120 or 240 refresh rates. What we do see is the panel refresh rate is much higher than the input rate and all this means is we get the same old 60 Hz input rate. Since the on screen display only shows the input rate, consumers are quick to ask why it doesn't show the panel rate or accept higher input rates.
It's a shame the retailers don't explain this area to folk.

Hi, I'm looking to get a new tv/monitor to use with my 360 and my computer and I want to make sure that I'm getting the full use out of them, and that they aren't pulling the wool over my eyes. Is there a test video file that I can put on a usb stick that will play and show me whether a specific tv/monitor will play at 120/240hz? I know that some things like samsung's CMR 120 is not actually 120hz and I want to have a way to see/show the difference. Thank you for your time and consideration.
