Question

How do I stop Windows from asking me to reconnect my drive?

Sep 4, 2018 3:49AM PDT

How do I stop my Windows 10 from constantly reminding me to "Reconnect your drive
Your File History Drive was disconnected for too long. Reconnect it and tap or click to keep saving copies."
It started I believe because I changed the name of my computer... do any of you know how I can fix this?

Maybe stop File History and start it again?

This issue might occur if some system files are not working properly.

Plug in the device and run the hardware troubleshooter. Once this is done, restart the computer and check the status.

Follow these steps:
- Press the ‘Windows + W’ key on the keyboard.
- Type troubleshooting in the search box and then press enter.
- Click hardware and sound and run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter.
- Follow the On screen instructions. Once this is done, restart the computer and check the status.

Keep us informed to help you further.

The device is an SSD that is hardwired into the computer

Also, I did the troubleshooting thing and it didn't get fixed.

It's first step says go to backup settings (which I've tried before) and reselect the network (I don't know what it means by this as I don't see the option to select a network it is always on my home wifi), but I have reselected the backup drive before by using update and backup options > more options > see advanced settings > and selecting my D: drive (backup drive).

btw: I just remembered this started happening after I renamed my computer by going to Control Panel > System Settings > Advanced System Settings > Computer Name > Change... (I just remembered this sorry I didn't put it in my first post).

What happens if you change it back to what it was?
