How do I stop my desktop flashing?

Aug 7, 2018 5:09AM PDT

I can sign in to my pc but as soon as it gets to my desktop it starts flashing. I can open task manager and libraries but nothing on my desktop works and all of the background processes are still working.

Answer
Log In As A Different Admin User.. What Happens?

More information about the computer would sure help. Desktop or laptop? Make and model of computer? How old is the computer? Although you've posted in the Windows 10 forum, is it a fully updated version of Win10?

In the meantime, possible issues come to mind.. To start with... Your login profile/account could be corrupted. Try logging in as a different admin user. (If you don't have a different admin login, create one even if you have to do it from Safe Mode.

Or....The screen/graphics card could be failing... Tried swapping in a known good monitor to see if it functions correctly?

Hope this helps and let us know more.

It suddenly started working after a few restarts but the problem might not be permanently fixed so I'll list off my computer's specs: It's not a laptop, it's a custom built PC, the nvidia drivers are fully updated and it has an up to date version of windows 10 pro 64bit and it was built in 2015 by me.

So Hopefully You've Created A Second Admin Login...Plus...

Although you've stated the Nvidia drivers are fully updated, have you visited the Nvidia card manufacturer's site and used THEIR latest driver? (Remember, letting Windows Update automatically update your graphics drivers is a bad idea. And pressing the "Update Driver" button in Device Manager-Display Adapters section does nothing so it's best to update all drivers from the manufacturer's site.)

The second admin login is a MUST just in case problems with your account profile occur.

Still, I hope you've got the flashing screen fixed. It's good to hear.

Hope this helps.
