How do I speed up my computer?

I have windows Xp. What services should I turn off so I can still instant message, play music, play games, and of course use the office software? Id be very thankful if you can help, my computer has been running extremely slow is there a sure method of speeding it up?

About the Services, you have to look carefully into www.blackviper.com

As for Speed, you will not get enough after a while.

Meanwhile make sure your pc is free from virus and spyware.

Use Adaware 6.181, SpybotSD 2.1.6, Spywareguard 2.2, Antivirus..

also check for virus online - wwww.trendmicro.com

you might also want to reformat and reinstall everything, if the last time you do is more than 1 year ago.
