For me.

The bookmarks are in the cloud so all I need to do is to log into Chrome. Also, there are many articles on how to backup your bookmarks as a backup to the cloud.

We only lose what we don't backup.

Your bookmarks are

stored with your google account. That way any computer that you login to your google account for bookmarks follow you around. It's great for setting up a new PC.

long shot

sometimes the bookmarks may appear to be lost but I have seen where users were still able to recover them by opening another browser and import bookmarks from chrome. don't know why it worked but it did. that said..

It may be time, as the others are suggesting, to either store them in your chrome account or use a bookmark manager where you can access your bookmarks no matter the browser or os.
