How do I reset picture width/height?

Toshiba TV Model # 37AV502R Probably 2009 vintage. Dish satellite. For the past month the picture is cut off so text is cut off at the ends as well as at the bottom or top of the screen. i.e. the picture doesn't fit in the screen. I've tried various formats and all the adjustments I can find on the remotes and reset the remote and TV to factory defaults. I don't know if it happens with the DVR input as I have no disks with text and don't know if there's stuff on the edges I 'm missing. On some scenes it appears there should be more.

Is there a way I can isolate which device is faulty? Is there an adjustment I can make to correct? Any other thoughts?

I find the manual. But I didn't find it so my bet is since you own this you have the manual. Look for any and all resets and try the defaults. I read you did resets but I'd check the product manual again.

After that tell more about the connections. This 720P TV is old but looks OK for use in today's systems.

HOWEVER I would only hook it up with HDMI.

Thanks. I did the reset of both TV and Dish receiver by the manual. I can only find 1 reset in the manual; Reset Factory Defaults. The TV/Dish receiver is connected to HDMI 1 and the DVR is connected to color stream 1. I don't think there are any other connections. I tried all the picture sizes. The "Native" setting shows the most of the picture but still leaves significant deficits. The "TheaterWide" settings cut out the most of the picture.

When we bought the TV I recall the fellow at Best Buy telling us we need the "right" (translate; most expensive) cables. Can they go bad? If so, would it affect the picture size vs screen size?

Would be my guess where this will fail as there is nothing to tell the sending device what resolution to send.

This means you have to really know your gear. Or just have it setup for you. My advice, use HDMI.

I think the TV is OK. You need to focus on the other device and set them to 720p

Why the change after 6 years?

OK. I am using HDMI. I'll see what I can do with the Dish unit. The manual for the TV says 1080i and 1080p (2 frequencies) are OK. If I can change the sending unit to 720p I will. Any idea why this happened now after 6 years of being OK?

I don't work there so I can't check if the remote management allows them to check settings.

My guess is something updated or reset and most forget setup after 6 years.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
