How Do I Remove IE Error Signature

Jan 6, 2007 9:39AM PST

Recently, I downloaded Sygate firewall on my computer and not long after that started having problems with IE Signature Script Errors everytime I try to exit out of a website. I can't just exist out of the sites, the IE Signature Error box comes up and says it has to close everything.

I didn't know that Sygate was a Norton product until after the fact. Had I known this I would have never used the firewall because I've had issues with Norton on my computer about 8 months ago and had to uninstall their software. I hadn't had any problems since until this. I've since uninstalled Sygate, but I'm still having the problem.
I have a HP computer with Windows XP. The error says,

IE Error Signature AppName:iexplore.exe ModName: unknown
AppVer.7.0.5700.6 Mod Ver: o.o.o.o offsett:08fb11b

Can someone tell me what I can to remedy this problem?

Suggestions on how to fix it will be greatly appreciated.

I also have Yahoo IM which I've had for years with no problems. I recently just upgraded it. So my problem with the error could be that or when I downloaded Sygate.

I went in to my registry and tried getting rid of all Sygate and Norton things still on the computer but that didn't help. And I really don't want to get rid of my Yahoo IM.

Thanks again for any help. I will appreciate it.

All of Norton and Sygate software are gone on the computer. However something did come up in the last error box I got that says this what was running when it happened: YIc TagGm dll Yahoo! Inc. IE Shortcuts

Is there a way to remove this without losing my Yahoo IM?

Yahoo IM

Yahoo Im might have been corrupted,"YIc TagGm dll Yahoo! Inc",this mentions dll, click HERE

Why not uninstall,then reinstall.

If you decide to to uninstall Im,HERE,then run a registry cleaner, such as ccleaner to remove all the invalid entries.

To reinstall, click HERE.There is no guarantee, but i have tried this with other programs with success.

Ok Tom. I don't have a cleaner though on here. Is ccleaner a free download?

The cleaner works great, I love it! It is the Yahoo IM when I re install that is causing the problem. When I uninstalled it, then downloaded and ran the cleaner and restarted, before I re installed, I brought up some web sites and then exited out with no problems. Then I re installed Yahoo IM and tried it again with web sites to exit and the problem was back. So it seems to be the Yahoo IM. I guess there new upgraded IM has some bugs in it. I didn't have that problem with the old one. If I could, I'd just reinstall the old IM until they got the kinks out of this new upgrade they have. Oh well, hopefully they'll fix this soon.

One more question, what is a good firewall to use that I can download for free? Right now I'm using Windows firewall, but I'm told it's not the best to use.

Click HERE for a list of free programs.Zone alarm is a good free firewall. If you install another firewall disable xp firewall since this will cause conflicts. This also applies to anti virus as well.

I was using Zone Alarm and AVG anti virus free versions but my computer was very sluggish and seemed to be getting worst the longer I used them. So I uninstalled Zone Alarm but the computer was still a bit sluggish. So I uninstalled AVG. I use Spy Sweeper which was suggested by techs at the store last year when I took my computer in for a upgrade. I pay for and bought the software for Spy Sweeper and I love that, it works great. Before that I was just using Spybot for spam, this Spy Sweeper though catches alot more than Spybot did.

Spy Sweeper now has anti virus, so I just added that to my subscription and the computer is doing fine. I just hadn't put Zone Alarm back on yet. I'll put the Zone Alarm back on, but I can't get rid of my Spy Sweeper, it's good on spam and now I use it for my anti virus protection also. I just paid for it and added it to my subscription yesterday.

I think I will. I think I'm also going back to the older version I had until they get the kinks out of the newer one.

Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciated it as I had no idea what to do. :o)

Figured Out How To Get Rid of The Error Box
Jan 6, 2007 3:38PM PST

Tomron, I finally figured it out. I went to click out on a website, and the error box came up again, but this time the add on box with the Yahoo came up with it and I clicked on Advanced and went in and disabled the Yahoo! So now the problem is gone and I'm using the newest version of Yahoo IM. So the Yahoo! Add On was the problem.

Ok, got that solved. Thank you again. :o)
