Resolved Question

How do I redirect a download from my prior download manager?

Feb 13, 2012 10:45AM PST

For a long time (years) I have been using Fresh Download for my downloads. Recently it has stopped functioning and downloads just never begin. I tried uninstalling the program and when I try to download a program it tells me [new]ERR{1}:Fresh Download could not take over the download! Click 'Back' button to return to normal mode.

and I would just add that there is no need to use download managers with today's browsers. They all have their own.

I didn't really think this was "no help" but I didn't want this to close out. I just got used to having them for many years. If I have uninstalled the program how can I get it to release the file so that the browser can download it. And thanks for answering.

How about this

Scroll down to where it says, "Q: Even though it is uninstalled and I have attempted to delete any relating entries in the registry, I get a message, Fresh Download cannot take over this download. How could I solved it?"

And see what they say there. it seems you may have to delete a file or two.

DISABLE the browser add-on through the browser's Manage add-ons applet?

Another thing you might try is to re-install that download manager then, with the browser(s) shut down try another uninstall.

This doesn't apply, as all of my browsers (Cool have no add-ons and I can't find anyplace that they are directed to use Fresh Download. This problem occurs with any of them. Thanks anyway for answering.
