Question

How do I recover the genuine logo and activation information

Aug 3, 2013 11:43AM PDT

I bought a computer with Windows 7 pre-installed, but the genuine logo and activation information are nowhere to be found. They were probably removed by the whole seller, if not by the seller.

I tried to find the solution from internet, but to no avail.

Answer
From Start to Control Panel is an Icon that says: System.
Aug 3, 2013 1:04PM PDT

Right click that to Open and that page has in the bottom will list Windows Activation. If there is a product key there, on the left, I will state: Genuine Windows. This is in my laptop and desktop. If you need the key, download Belarc Advisor, on the page all registration numbers are listed for anything that you need, print it out or copy the ones you need. Darrell

That's why I ask for a solution
Aug 4, 2013 11:55AM PDT

The genuine logo and activation information are missing on the System properties window as they are supposed to be. They are no where to be found within the OS.

I will try to install Belarc Advisor to see what happen.

My guess
Aug 3, 2013 1:17PM PDT

My guess would be that you got sold a system with a pirated OS on it. If there's no sticker with the product code for Windows, the chances of it being anything other than a cracked version are pretty slim sorry to say. You can try the suggestion already given, but my guess is that if you called in to Microsoft's activation hotline to check whether it was a valid key, they'd tell you no.

But I wonder if any seller dare to do it
Aug 4, 2013 12:05PM PDT

I wonder if any seller dare to sell a computer with pirate OS/software. I don't think it is legal and will bring the seller a great trouble though I am not familiar with copyright law.

How do I contact Microsoft Product Activation Center if I could not provide them anyhting?(product ID, activation code...etc.)

It's not legal
Aug 4, 2013 12:09PM PDT

It's not legal, but people do it all the time just the same. People who sell custom made computers on ebay do it all the time, small time computer repair people do it all the time. Probably more than half the copies of Windows you see being sold on eBay are pirated. Generally speaking, it's not worth the time, money and hassle to go after such small time operators so few people are ever actually punished for it.

Pirated Windows 7 Ultimate x64 Now Genuine.
Oct 6, 2014 8:27PM PDT

I got a cracked Win 7 x64 Ultimate installed on my computer as it shows no activation information in the summary screen.

I bought a genuine license key from MS, typed 'Activate' in the Start search box, entered the key and activated my OS successfully over the internet.

However I still do not have any activation info in the summary screen.

I assume the crack is still in place preventing this from working?

Can anyone tell me how to repair this? I did not get a installation disk with the computer and re-installing now is out of the question as it would take me forever to reinstall all my software and configuration.

Thanks in advance...

If the cracked OS is that corrupt.
Oct 7, 2014 1:50AM PDT

Google up Digital River Windows 7 downloads and go get your OS again if you never had the DVD. Now you can start over.

Repairing a cracked, corrupt OS is never a sure thing. I've seen folk spend months on that and still end up with the real fix. I rarely get to work this because the charges and time involved can be far too much and with all the cracks I can't tell which method may fix it save the do-over.
