Question

How do I overclock my memory safely

Aug 29, 2015 11:35AM PDT

I have 2x2GB of 533mhz and a mobo than supports 800mhz, 1066mhz and 1333mhz ram speed. I tried the RAM already and its not really working too well as the computer freezes on startup. If I can just overclock the RAM to 800mhz, can someone explain to me how it can be done please?

CPU intel core 2duo E8600 3.33GHZ
MOBO: gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
RAM : DDR2 533mhz

While I might try 5 to 10% over the rating you are going for 50% over clocking. Simply no.

I agree with Robert as typical newer PC rarely benefit from ram O/C'ing not in the range you're asking. On top of that, you need to have a "user friendly" mtrbd. thru the bios that allow greater access to such and even then it's as Robert explained, tops 10%.

What you 're asking is really NOT possible as you understand it, going from 553 to 800 class speed. That it's really telling you that the system is capable of accepting "ACTUAL ram"
of that speed. So, the best upgrade for you is to get true ram of the higher speed.

As always, I suggest you check at http://www.crucial.com for ram best befits your system PC.
