How do I open e-mail file?

How do I open a hypertext protocol(e-mail file) afer downloading it . Note book opens it but picture doesn't work?

1. What's the full filename, including extension, which is the part after the dot (so it's something like mymail.eml).
2. How did you 'download' it. The usual way to receive an e-mail file is receiving it in a mail client like Outlook or Outlook Express.

In the absence of further details on that file, I have to guess that is a txt file, since you can open it with Notepad ? If so, change the file name with the addition of a html extension. Then open the file with your browser.

long story here: when you download/open an html file, when that file is opened it (generally) looks around in the directory in which resides for any linked files such as pictures. unless you also download the (missing) picture file the html file is calling for, (or unless you are on-line when it calls for a picture file located on the web somewhere) it won't find it and therefore won't open it and you get the little cracked image or an X.
my assessment is there's nothing wrong with your browser. try opening the file while on line. if no help, ask the person who sent you the html file to direct you to its original source on the web, where the missing pic will most likely be in the file's directory.
