It is good to see that you were utilizing the modes on your old camera. So many people ignore them.
The G6 does not have a pre-programed action mode.
But it does have a more versatile "Shutter Priority" mode.
Select Shutter Prioity mode and that will let you set your shutter speed to any value. For shots like you describe when you have good light, you can start by setting the shutter speed to about 1/400th of a second. The camera will then automatically select the appropriate aperture setting to get a perfect exposure. You should read your manual to get the details for setting the shutter speed.
You should not over-do the speed setting. Just use enough shutter speed to prevent your subject from blurring. You can do a little trial and error and in the future you will know about where to set the shutter speed for the type of action involved.

on my canon powershot g6. because when i take a picture and move the camera i gets out of focus or if i take a picture of a moving car i see light traces. when i had the canon powershot a60 i didnt have that problem the camera had the function where you could set the weel to the picture of a running man and fast cars or people moving water dropping from a tap where all very still and sharp but i cant get my new canon powershot g6 to do that. can someone please help me
