Macro range

In reply to: How do I know what camera has a better macro?

This is a case where the smaller number is preferred.

4 cm means the closest focus distance between the front of the lens and the target.

4 cm = 1.6 inches (approx)
10 cm = 4 inches (approx)

This means that if you take a macro photo of a dime, the 4 cm camera will come closer to showing the dime at actual size.

Here is a link:

About halfway down the page you will find:
Normal Focal Range and Macro Focal Range.

Notice the very small yellow question mark next at the end of ''Range ?''

Click on that yellow question mark for an explaination of what that specification means.
