How do I import Windows 2000 outlook express into Vista?

Sep 16, 2007 1:01AM PDT

I have my outlook express on my old drive in a case connected externally to my new HP laptop.
I think I have copied over the file on to the desktop of Vista. Do I need special software to import all the data?

Thanks for any help

First it may not be possible to import from outlook express to Windows mail. Thou very similar there are differences in the two. Most likely file extension problems.

You could send the most important stuff to yourself. This is easy to do, just address it to yourself and send. Do you have a dual boot of the two OSs?

If your trying to recreate your address book check with your on line email provider. You can import the address book from an on line source. At least you can from Yahoo.

Maybe with a little more information I might be able to assist you further. Sorry no one assisted you sooner. I'll help as much as I can.

Hey thanks so much for your kind words!
I am so frustrated with all this I can't begin to tell you.
Would it be possible to talk on the phone? I'd be happy to call you.

Here is what happened: My laptop died with a power supply problem, so I took out the HD (which was a big step for me) and got a case and started to bring files over to my new HP laptop which I really like!

I was told alot of things about the Outlook Express! someoen said the extension is a .dbx. I did see that in the file. But when I went to loaded it up Vista didn't see anything in that folder.

someone said run XP & Vista with a program called system Commander that felt kind of strange.........2 different operating sytems could spell disaster as I'm not a Techie at all.

Someone else said uninstall Vista replace it with XP. I called HP support in India which is a such hit or miss, they said they could gurantee me that I could get the drivers for XP.

So now I don't know what to do. I hope this isn't too much information for you but this is where I'm at.

What are you trying to do?

I wouldn't put my phone number on the net. Bad idea.
