Question

How do I get the mail icon on Internet Explorer to work?

Oct 10, 2013 12:52PM PDT

I am used to using the mail icon on internet explorer to access my email. I just bought a new laptop with windows 8 on it. Is there a way to have my Suddenlink email service linked to the mail button on windows 8. When I click on it I get a message that says Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed. If this is not possible what is the easiest way to access my email from Suddenlink? Thanks.

Answer
For me that would be Thunderbird.

Most Windows 8 arrives without an email client. You should choose one, install and configure then try that button again.

this site. http://help.suddenlink.com/internet/Pages/EmailandNewsServerNames.aspx

It shows that you can configure this email in a email client such as Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird as Bob suggests. You could download either of these and and you would configure the inbound server & outbound (SMTP server) info in the link above.

If you wanted to use the web imap account just paste the link to the login screen and go there then grab the picture of the paper with the edge folded part of the link and drag it to the desktop. That will create a desktop icon that will take you to the login screen when you click it.
