Question

How do I get rid of this error found by Norton ?

by maronaron / October 17, 2014 6:57 AM PDT

I have a Dell Inspirion 5520 Laptop and I am using "Nortom 360 premier edition" It reads "ERROR 8505,123" but there is no Fix. There is a Fix button but it just scans for days.

I went to Norton's website and they suggested 3 things to try BUT none of them work. I am not the only one of their customers to have this problem. One of their options is uninstall then reinstall, another is use System Restore and last is use recovery disc which I have but were left at another home hours away.

This Error stops me from installing software or anything from the internet. I have to install to a DVD on another PC and install on the Dell that way. I've tried Malwayrebytes, CCleaner, revo-uninstaller and I think another. I am unable to uninstall the Norton software.

If anyone knows of a free software program that can get rid of this error 8505,123 I would greatly appreciate it. There are programs that promise to get rid of it but then once scanning is done they want $45 to $100 to register without a guarantee.

Thanks Again

Have seen this issue before with Norton's..As Mr. Proffitt stated, use the Norton removal tool ...then reload, if you want to continue with Norton's...

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
