Question

How do I get Outlook and Google Sync to play nice?

Jul 5, 2013 4:04AM PDT

Hi
I'm having an issue with several of our workstations and Google Sync. We are using Windows XP machines and Office 2010. On several occasions, folks have fired up Outlook, the Google Sync progress window opens, but it just continues to run without actually syncing anything, a.k.a. their inboxes get no new mail.
Has anyone else encountered this and did you find a solution?
Many thanks.

Why not the usual email settings?

The issue is that certain users are used to Outlook and have all their folders and whatnot in there. We attempted to switch over to Google (Gmail, Drive, etc) but some would prefer to use Outlook as their UI for mail so we used Google Sync, but there are a couple that just won't play right.

Back to google support. I can't guess if you installed anything like Norton or other suite and there is some issue with privacy protection or such. In recap, just like IT staff do they strip it down to get it to work then add each thing until they find it.

As presented it was just email and for that I have never used Google Sync.

If a company isn't buying or paying for this service then it's iffy if it should work. And once in a while you encounter a company or IT staffer that expects steak burgers when they only give out the cheap stuff.

Sync Google CAlendar with Outlook
Oct 8, 2013 7:14PM PDT

I use plugin Outlook4Gmail that makes this task a fast and easy one.
I highly appreciate that it syncs Outlook and Google contacts with maximum details.
Outlook4Gmail provides various ways of syncing Calendars, both import a calendar from Google into Outlook and export an Outlook calendar to Google. You can even Sync Contact Categories with Google Groups
This Outlook plugin comes with a lot of handy features and works perfectly and it is really a good option to use Outlook4gmail for synching google and outlook accounts
