Resolved Question

How do I get my Surface RT to remote print to my Epsonxp-310

Feb 4, 2015 12:11AM PST

I tried downloading the drivers to my RT. Received message software not compatible with Windows RT get app from Microsoft. I downloaded the app and when I try to print I get a message: This app not compatible with your software.

I tried to load software by using USB port on printer and Surface Rt. Now the printer is shown as my default printer but I still can't print because message says printer off line.

I would like to be able to print from the Surface RT(windows 8 64 bit) to my Epson wireless XP-310. I certainly would appreciate any suggestions.

why used the USB port? Not necessary for loading software was it? Usually software is loaded first before any port is used.

As for wifi access, in general, you need the wireless access information for your router. This would be the SSID and the WEP or WPA passphrase. You may need to be sure the SSID is exposed at least for the initial connection. Take that info to the printer, access it's wifi settings and enter it. You can then check in the router's program (using browser) and see if the printer is connected to the router. If so, then you next need to Add Printer to your computer. Note the IP address the router assigned the printer, you may need to use that.

I can't test this but to get this working it may be best to plug it in the USB so the automatic steps start up per Epson and that would get this printer into the printer control panel. THEN it would be a bit easier to change from USB to WiFi printing (maybe.)
