Question

How do I get my songs with home sharing?

Dec 15, 2012 9:11AM PST

I just turned on home sharing so I can have the songs I put on my laptop on my computer. So now what? When I click on home sharing now I get two choices, I can either turn off home sharing or I can choose photos to share with Apple TV. Why the heck isn't there an import songs from other computer option and how do I do that?

The songs are there because I had managed to get them before. But Then I put in a CD and put that on and now the only songs here are the ones from that one CD and the original instructions don't work. There is no library pop up menu

The CD slot on my laptop is broken. I would like to add more music via my desktop but when I do all the other songs go away and only come back when I delete the old stuff. I want to be able to bring up the 11,000 plus songs on my desktop, add new songs, and keep all of them

Right now I can click on Music and get the 18 songs I added via my laptop. Or I can click on Owner's Library and get the 11877 songs I added via my laptop. I want all of them, all 11895, all at the same time. How do I do that?

Why do I keep having to put in a subject line?. It's the same thread, the same subject

machines set up correctly.
Is Home Sharing set up on both machines using the same Apple ID?

Go back and read the article I linked to, and to the articles that it links to, and if you have everything set up as the articles say, the other computer Library will appear in the sidebar.
From there you just drag and drop the tracks you want and they will be transferred via your home network.

As for the subject line, it's the software.

The article says how to set it up. That's not the problem, I have it set up, now I want to use it. I don't see any difference at all except that sometimes, and I do mean sometimes, there is an Owner's Library on the left which when I click on it brings up the 11877 songs I put on itunes through my laptop and takes away the 1352 songs I put on through my desktop. I want all the songs all at the same time

Home Sharing is turned on right now but the only way I know that is when I click on File/Home Sharing I get two options, turn off Home Sharing or share photos with AppleTV. I do not want to turn off Home Sharing and I do not want to share photos withg AppleTV or anybody else. I want to bring the songs on my laptop to my desktop and I want the songs on my desktop to stay where there are and not disappear.

I've also installed the cloud. don't know if that would be easier. Right now I have both the laptop and the desktop music in the cloud but that's useless unless I can actually do something. Where are the cloud options?? How do I get the music off the cloud and onto my desktop?

The "Home Sharing" on the left keeps coming and going. Why?

The "Home Sharing" on the left keeps coming and going. Why? How do I get it to stay there?

I thought I had the problem solved when I dragged the songs to the Music file and it said the 11877 were being copied to the Music file. They weren't

Is there any other software I can use for my ipod besides itunes? Maybe something that's not so confusing and easier to use?

Could be that your network is not that good

If you don't fancy trying to figure it out, then get yourself a large flash drive and copy them that way
