Resolved Question

How do I fix Word .doc attachments that show as .@ documents

May 3, 2015 10:10AM PDT

While at home on my hp ProBook 4530, I needed a Word document from my work computer. To access it I opened my company e-mail (Outlook Web Access) and found an e-mail I sent with it attached as a .doc. When I open these e-mails at home, or any attached Word files, they are showing as file type .@
Obviously they will not open on my laptop. Is there a setting I need to correct somewhere?

Explain more about the file type.

Attachments could be saved and the extension set back to .doc if it got mangled somehow.

Many workplaces filter files so you may have tripped up over your IT's security system to thwart folk emailing out documents. For me, I just use a memory key.

PS. Microsoft seems to know more about this.
