Question

How do I fix my enter button?

Apr 29, 2017 4:31PM PDT

Ive tried every basic method to reactivate/fix the enter key on my laptop(there is no second enter key). I've un/re-installed my keyboard driver, checked for updates, tried remapping programs like sharpkeys and keytweaks. i've even used external keyboards(which work exactly like my normal keyboard but without the enter key functioning) I'm lead to believe that somehow my enter key has been disabled. At this point all I can think of is a registry edit, but I'm clueless as to how to do it, or if it would even be appropriate in my situation. I'm willing to provide computer settings if necessary, whatever is needed to fix this irritating issue.

You wrote about the external but didn't tell if the enter key worked or not on the external.

I've tried those methods

As stated in my original description, I've used key mapping programs to try to reassign new function keys. I've also checked out that link several times. Should I just look up a guide for registry editing or will someone be able to walk me through it? Thanks

External keyboards dont fix the problem

When I plug in a keyboard to my laptop, every key functions besides the enter key. Just like on my laptop. Whats more I did remap the enter key in the past but reverted the changes after the attempts failed, so no other key has the enter function, I've checked.

Remember that while we know the registry area for keymap

It's very advanced and I do not suggest or support that outside of an office call.

Google it up (windows registry keymapping) if you want to look in the heart of darkness (uh, there be dragons?)

If you have W10, I can share a dump of a key if you share which to dump.

"dump of a key" what do you mean? I cant think of any method outside of regedit to fix this because its clearly a system issue.
