How do I download to PC from Sony DCR-HC38 handycam?

Jul 16, 2007 5:27PM PDT

I have just about made up my mind to buy the Sony 38 DVC handycam.
Don't need still photo as I have a Canon Digital SLR and a backup pocket digital camera, hence the 38 as opposed to the 48.
If anybody can suggest something better for around the same price it would be very much appreciated.
Also, I have been told by the shop that I can download to my PC using USB cable.
I had assumed I'd need firewire.
Could one of you far more knowledgeable people put me straight on this?

Firewire doesn't need any driver.

I can imagine those that look for it would be very frustrated.

to the DV port of the camcorder to the firewire port of the computer. If youor computer does not have a firewire port, install one. USB for stills; firewire for video.
