Question

how do I do a live feed on tv while recording

Nov 24, 2014 10:14PM PST

My 7 year old likes to do Review Videos of his different collections. he has a flat screen TV that is mounted on the wall and we want to get him a camcorder that will allow him to see himself on the TV while he is Recording his Videos. We don't want to spend a fortune if we don't have to, but we want to get him a decent camera

Not all camcorders give a live signal when recording, some will give a signal and then blank when the record button is pressed.
The Panasonic HC-V750 will give a live signal when recording. (recently tested this for another poster) You will need a HDMI to mini HDMI lead to connect from the camera to the TV OR connect via Wi-Fi.

Thank you for the response. So I want to do a live signal when recording and do it by WiFi since the flat screen is mounted on the wall. Would you know of a less expensive camcorder that will work? This is for a 7 year old and we have set a $300 budget for camcorder and tripod if possible

WiFi?

That's trouble in the making. Why not use any of the top rated camcorders and leave WiFi out of this?

I could guess one is trying to skip the cable to move video out of the camcorder to the video editing machine.

OK, many camcorders have a video output that can go to some display so the commentator can see themselves. Is that what you want?

Yeah, that's exactly what we are trying to do, and your right I don't think it really needs to be WIFI. His TV is a newer flat screen so it should have the connections. so we just need a good camcorder with video output capability.

any suggestions?

Right now his mother or myself have to stand and hold his tablet up for him so he can do his reviews. We turn the camera to where we can film it and he can watch himself to make sure he is getting the shots like he wants them. He is only 7 and into collecting different things from around the world and doing his video reviews of them.

Sounds like a tripod is needed.

It's become very common to use an ipad/phone to shoot such a video. The power in our hands has gone way way up. For me, I can see a tripod then a remote to control record/stop/pause functions. Let's find those.

Tripod https://www.google.com/search?q=ipad+tripod+mount
Remote: "Can I use this device to start, pause, stop video / movie *recording* on my iPod Touch?

A. The BT Media remote will allow you to start/stop video recording using the native camera app on the iPod Touch."

Hope this helps,
