How do I determine if my Samsung laptop is new/refurbished?

I bought a Samsung laptop through an online vendor. on receiving the shipment I noticed that the serial number on the invoice and packing box does not match the serial number on the laptop. There's and extra "B" suffix on the laptop serial number which isn't present on the serial number mentioned on the invoice and the packing box. I was wondering if the extra "B" indicates that the laptop is refurbished.
