Has the picture changed from the default silhouette?.

Take a look at System Preferences > Users and Groups

The photo is still there

Hi there,
Thanks for your suggestion but the photo is still there on the login window. In the system preferences it is only the silhouette that appears. Also you said to log in as guest and remove the photo but how?

Having read up on the Guest account,

I can see that you cannot change anything as a guest.

Now open System Preferences > Users and Groups.
Unlock it if necessary
Click on the Guest Account
Right click and Disable.
OR
Click on Disable.
(Sorry, not at a Mac right now so cannot be more precise)

Already tried that

That only disables the guest account and once you enable again the same photo comes back up. I have tried something else though - I logged in as the guest and went over to Address book App, edited the photo on there for the guest and chose one of the chat icons instead. Now the chat icon is what's on the avatar and not the darned photo. I'm satisfied with that for now even though what I would really like is to have the silhouette itself back in its proper place. If you get any other ideas please let me know. And thanks a lot for your help.
