how do i delete a file on a floppy disc?

i put a file on a floppy disc ages ago i want to use this floppy disc again but it wont let me delete the file on it as it says its write protected ? you mite say why dont i just use another disc well they say there write protected too? am i doing somthing wrong? can somebody tell me how to delete a file on floppy? thanks steve.
im using win xp home/edtion

on the corner of the disk. It must be closed.

If I remember correctly...

the old 3 1/2 disks had two holes in the disk... one hole had a way to cover or uncover it. Changing that setting should allow the disk to be modified.

Turn the disk over

In the bottom right hand corner the slider should be in the padlocks Open position. If that is already done then there is a problem with the drive itself not recognizing the slider position. You will need to replace the drive.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
