How do I create custom or one word hyperlinks?

Oct 5, 2005 1:30AM PDT

I notice that some people create one word hyperlinks to webpages, where the word "Here" would take the place of the page address like I always do by cutting/pasting an address from the address bar.
How is this done?
Thanks!

But in the Cnet forums...
Oct 5, 2005 3:33AM PDT

Tufenuf's guide will work for most forums/websites, as they use standard HTML coding. However, Cnet and some others use an alternative BBS coding system due to ''misuse'' by hackers, spammers, and other ill-intented individuals. For a more detailed explanation of this, and instructions on how to use such in these forums, click here to view the forum FAQs, then scroll about 2/3 of the way down for the section titled ''Using HTML Codes.''

Hope this helps,
John

Like this

This link leads to Firefox's NoScript extension.

This is how it is typed:

NoScript[/u">www.noscript.net/whats]NoScript[/u rl]

It has some spaces in the code for demonstration purposes. If they were closed up, it would turn into the link above. If you prefer the link not to appear in bold type, just leave the off either end.

And if you want the hyperlink subject underlined . .

as most are, you could add the underline code with the word(s) used.

Good old joke site...
Oct 6, 2005 6:23AM PDT

It's designed to drive the person who clicks on the link nuts by forcing them to either press "OK" 150 times through all of those pop-up messages or crash their browser. Once you get past them, or restart your browser, everything should return to normal. Are you still having problems logging in?

Sorry Everyone
Oct 6, 2005 8:27PM PDT

Sorry Everyone for the website joke. It was just for fun and I couldn't resist myself. Kevin(taboma) really likes that website. If you use the NoScript function, it doesn't work.

But just imagine, this is only a harmless joke on a website. Imagine it you got an email or went to a website that locked you out of your computer using Script. You'd really have a mess on your hands. It makes you think more and more of some of the dangers that can happen on the internet. Also I have read that most spyware can get into your computer using the Macromedia Flash player. I have disables the Flash player for everyone that uses this computer(except me) You can control things better this way. The games that some websites have for you to play, then want you to use Wildtangent and I have had bigbro spayware installed this way. I have also set up the other user not to be able to download any files from the internet. It has reduced the spyware and other problems you get fromthese programs you don't know anything about.

Think about it

Sorry once again

No probleemo. I had a feeling clicking the popup would be a joke rather than malicious. It was a strange that after I used ctrl-alt-del to close it, I got an error that caused me to reboot (I'm running a slightly scrambled version of ME so I get this problem often) and when I was back up, MSN Explorer wouldn't let me log back on. But it must have been their system since I could log on fine with Firefox or plain old I.E.. I guess it was a coincidence of timing that MSN took a crap right when I tried to log back on after my reboot. Everything is fine today! BTW, I did scan for sypware. It found a few of the usual things (it almost always finds something), but removing them didn't help at that moment.

The site only
Oct 6, 2005 11:22PM PDT

The site only makes anyone who does not have their scripting blocked click 150 times to get out of it. It also disables ctrl+alt+delete so you have to go through the process. It's harmless and just a coincidence that the other things appeared at the same time. If I were you, I'd get rid of the hotmail account and get a better one (like Gmail). The spam is getting worst by the day at hotmail.com that I have closed all my free email accounts. I've had them since 2000 but no more. Even if you use MSN to sign on, I'd get a free gamil account.

Good old joke site?off subject
Oct 7, 2005 3:57PM PDT

OFF-SUBJECT?
John, you got succered into this site also? Me too!!
Rick sent me email last month. Boinnnggg!
150 clicks later and a few choice words to Rick in-between, I finally got to their web site and immediately sent off about six emails that did not go through to the addresses. Wonder why?

Let's face it ,John, Rick has too much time on his hands lately. His posts are very good lately.
Can you suggest a new vocational training program for Rick?
Perhaps joining Lampi-the-clown in writing a book on this and other subjects? I would join them if they need a graphic artist and others help us on the way to the funny farm, where everything is wonderful and rosy!

John, want to join us?
As crazy as this sounds, I made a suggestion to Lee Koo to have a Jokester's forum recently while Lee was on his tour in Braintree, MA. (CNET's last destination on their tour.) Neat!
Lee told me about his new Gamester's Forum.
I guess Lee did not like my suggestion for a Joke forum. Oh, well?

That was exactly what I was looking for. I guess the coding is different for programs like Hotmail? I tried using it in an email but no luck. Works great here though!
