How do I convert VHS to DVD?

Dec 10, 2004 9:42AM PST

Not looking for detailed information yet. Basic info for now please, like all equipment and connections needed. I'm sure I'll have more questions later but I need to get setup first. Thank you in advance.

Here's a good place to start reading about it. Read all the info in the left column before you ask any questions.

Re: How do I convert VHS to DVD? for under 99 bucks.

Remember that Movies may be copy protected and may never DIGITIZE. With that statement out of the way, here's the under 99 dollar desktop PC solution.

1. The 49 dollar ATI or Hauppauge PCI TV Card.

It has capture software to get your video onto the PC.

2. The 30 buck http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=dvdSanta

http://www.dvdsanta.com/divx-to-dvd.htm notes what to do with the file from item 1.

Cheap!

Oh, don't have DVD recorder? Still not tool expensive. I've picked up new drives for under 99 bucks from newegg.com and compgeeks.com
